Be Fruitful

It is easy to be critical of this kind of negligence [not shoveling snow off the roof until the roof caves in], but I’ve done the same thing. with anger.  Storing it up in bits and pieces–a few silent irritations here, some inward resentments there–until I have an overloaded roof ready to cave in on someone. ~ Sue Monk Kidd in Firstlight

This is definitely me.  If I don’t discuss issues when they’re small, they build up into a furnace within me.  Then I’m too angry to deal with issues calmly and so I don’t, because I’m afraid of what might happen if I try.

When Mike and I married, we agreed to deal with problems when they were little (the little foxes):  “ Catch the foxes for us, The little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, While our vineyards are in blossom.”  Song of Solomon 2:15

Anger is one of the little foxes, jealousy is another, worry yet another.  The list is endless.  I’m going to ask God today to catch the little foxes running around in my soul so I don’t end up with a caved in roof.
