Heavens, raise the roof! Earth, wake the dead!
Mountains, send up cheers!
God has comforted his people.
He has tenderly nursed his beaten-up, beaten-down people. Is. 49:13
If I’m understanding the tense comforted is written in, it is something that God intentionally does that is repeated over time. He’s comforted us in the past, He’s comforting us now, and He’ll comfort us in the future with great purpose.
Sometimes when I feel beaten-up and beaten-down, I feel so GUILTY. I feel that if I were a “good” Christian this would never happen to me. In the King James Version the word “afflicted” is used instead of beaten-up and beaten-down. Afflicted means poor, humble, wretched, needy, and weak. God knows us from the inside out. He is there to comfort us not to condemn us when we are beaten-down. Receive it.
