Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul. Psalm 66:16
Ed Young, Jr. in his book, Know Fear, states that,
Fear of God springs from hope. And this comes from an assurance of our salvation, of our security in the hands of God because of our faith in Christ. This hope should inspire us to revere God, to love him, and to do what is right for the simple reason that we want to please God.
We fear God not because we’re afraid he’ll punish us, but because we know He loves us. Because of the Biblical hope we have in Him. We’ve discussed the word for fear before and how fearing God is reverence toward God. When we realize all that He has done for us, when we rehearse it as we reverence Him, we fear Him and put Him in his correct place in relationship to us. We put Him on the throne our lives and depose ourselves.
Perhaps today is the day for a palace revolution!
