. . . seek, inquire for, and crave peace and pursue (go after) it! Psalm 34:14b Amplified
Seek, or baqash, means to seek, require, desire, exact, request, demand, secure, and to ask for. This is written in the form of a command. We are to seek peace, and because God never commands us to do the impossible, we will find it when we seek it wholeheartedly with a craving for peace.
Pursue, or radeph, means to be behind, follow after, pursue, run after, dog, attend closely upon, harass, and aim to secure. All of that seems like quite a bit of work that perhaps seems to contradict the idea of resting in Christ. But sometimes we’re out of whack. We can’t rest. We are listening to the wrong voices: The maybe, mights, and coulds. And that’s when we need to get some exercise and pursue peace. How? The same way that an Olimpic athlete pursues the gold–by focusing on the goal and working toward it. Memorize Scripture. Harass God. Because….
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and troubles. Psalm 34:17 Amplified.
