Fear Not

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Is. 41:10

Fear not is used 63 times in the Bible.  It is important to God that we not fear.  Why should we fear not?  Because He is with us.  I’ve been reading some recreations of the Arthurian legends lately, and much is made of the chivalrous night ready to protect his people.  God is much more than the knight in shining armor we dreamed of when we were girls.  He is the all-powerful, all-knowledgeable, ever-present protector.  Anything that gets past him to us is for our good.

Fear is the emotion and intellectual anticipation of harm, what one feels may go wrong for them.

Dismayed has an interesting meaning:  to look away.  When we are dismayed we have taken our eyes off Jesus and put them on ourselves or our situation.  The key is to remember that He is our God and with our focus on him we will not be frightened!
