I love what Jesus says to Peter on Gethsemane when he finds him asleep:
“Simon, you went to sleep on me? Can’t you stick it out with me a single hour? Stay alert, be in prayer, so you don’t enter the danger zone without even knowing it. Don’t be naive. Part of you is eager, ready for anything in God; but another part is as lazy as an old dog sleeping by the fire.” (Mark 14:37) The Message
The danger zone of fear is entered into when we are in the lazy old dog part of ourselves. We need to be alert, bringing the earliest nip of fear to Christ in prayer.
It’s as if Jesus is speaking directly to me in this moment in time…in every moment of time. Do you see yourself in this too? God knows us. He knows our frame. He created us. And He loves us.
